On Friday, February 19 we welcomed loved ones into our classroom to learn beside us. Students conducted science experiments and showed their family members how the scientific method works. It was so much fun!
In math, students have been constructing boxes and working with cubes to learn about volume. These hands-on lessons have allowed students to figure out the formula for volume on their own! Yesterday, the students in our class learned that taste buds detect four types of taste--sweet, salty, bitter and sour. The taste buds are receptor cells which send messages to our brain, and our brain lets us know what we are tasting.
Today, students conducted a taste test experiment. They were given four foods and had to predict which type of taste each one would have. Some were obvious, but there were some surprises! Ask your child how it went! |
